Spaces is a multidisciplinary artistic collective that fosters collaboration among local creatives, helping them bring passion projects to life.

Our main focus is on literary arts, but we embrace their connection with other forms like fine art, music, dance, and more, striving to bring different expressions together.

Our values

Spaces is a community where everyone is welcome, regardless of background, experience, or language. We aim to build a supportive environment that encourages cultural exchange, and a safe space to share personal works of art.

Key facts

Spaces is a collective formed by a group of students of different backgrounds and nationalities, united by the same passion for poetry, spoken word, and creative writing. Spaces have been active for slightly more than a year. In that time, they have organised multiple events on their own and in collaboration with local cultural organisations (Noordword, OOST, Suikerbrij festival, Noorderzon, and more). All of their events aim at driving more people to poetry word through showcasing how diverse and gripping it can be. Their function highly depends on passionate young people of Groningen who are interested in sharing their own stories through art regardless of their skill or performance experience.
